Il Manifesto di Ventotene

Ventotene's Manifesto is one of the first documents advocating a European constitution, and states that any victory over the fascists would be useless if only leads to the establishment of another version of the old European system.

The Manifesto proposed the formation of a supranational European Federation, whose main objective is to unite the European states to preclude a new war. Thus, federalism is not just a thought or political model organization but a base to build peace and resolve conflicts.

Altiero Spinelli (1907-1986) was an Italian politician, advocate of European federalism, and one of the fathers of the European Union, which more important role was to be an advocate of the integration process happened during the decades following World War II.

Ernesto Rossi (1897-1967) was a politician, journalist and anti-fascist activist. His ideas contributed to the Action Party and later to the Radical Party.
