I miti del nostro tempo

Youth and intelligence, happiness and maternal love. And then fashion and technique, security and power, and still market, economic growth, new technologies ... They are the myths of our time, the ideas that more than others pervade us and shape us as individuals and as a society. Those that advertisings and the mass media propose as values and impose them as social practices, providing them with a language that makes them attractive and desirable.

Myths are ideas that possess and govern us with means that are not logical, but psychological, and therefore rooted in the depths of our soul. They are ideas that we have mythologized because they do not give problems, they facilitate the judgment, in a word they reassure us. Yet it is necessary to awaken from the apparent quietness of our mythologized ideas, because many sufferings, many disturbances, many discomforts arise precisely from the ideas that, comfortably crouched in the laziness of our thinking, no longer allow us to understand the world in which we live. To recover our presence in the world we must then revisit our myths, both the personal ones and the collective ones, we must subject them to critical scrutiny, because our problems are within our lives, and our life wants us to take care of the ideas with which we interpret it.
