This survey is the most systematic attempt to trace the intellectual evolution of Warburg. Moving from the first workshops on archeology, about Darwin, until the notes on the psychology of expression and the seminars on astrology and about Rembrandt, this research finally comes to analyze the emblematic Mnemosyne panel dedicated to the pathos of the winner. Here Warburg intended to condense, through a visual journey marked by a poignant associative logic, the matter of the struggle and the transformations of the artistic style.
