Poésies complètes

Marcabru (1110 ca. - 1150 ca.), precursor of the trobar clus and the protagonist of that trobar braus that will also influence the dreadful rhymes of Dante, is the most proud, sour and sensual of the troubadours. With a complex and original language, he rails against courtly love, denounces the immorality of the aristocrats and prefers to give voice to the humble. Its "sirventesis" valorize in extreme way the rhetorical and prosodic resources of the langue d'oc. Marcabru had great influence on contemporary and subsequent poetry. One of his poems was translated by Ezra Pound in The Spirit of Romance.
