Teologia politica
In the era of liberal and socialist thought the link between religion and politics seemed to have fallen into oblivion and only affect the archaeological or historical sociological interpretation, like a problem related to a primitive stage of civilization. But is it really possible to state a political order and completely immanent, without any reference to the transcendent? The central question is summarized in the formula "political theology"and is still one of the most powerful forces in human history. This book reconstructs the history of political theology focusing on its origin in antiquity, the development that it had in the Middle Ages, on occasions during the Reformation and the Counter-Reformation, its elimination in the doctrine of the modern state and its revival in political philosophy and religious thought of the twentieth century. Throughout history, theological reflection and political imagined the relationship between immanence and transcendence in different ways, but every moment holding the idea that the policy has at its heart a necessary reference to theology, from which, however, must always break free, worth its annihilation.
