La Jugoslavia e la questione di Trieste, 1945-1954

What were the objectives of Yugoslav diplomacy in managing the Trieste question, a decades-long territorial dispute that constituted one of the main controversies in European foreign policy in the post-World War II period? The book, the result of in-depth research in the main archives of the former Yugoslavia, finally sheds light on aspects that the numerous reconstructions existing to date have only been able to speculate upon. The work, which in addition to a large body of previously unpublished documents benefits from an extensive bibliography, is structured in three chapters that begin with the key moments of discontinuity in Yugoslav history during the period under review: the liberation of Trieste in May 1945, the expulsion from the Cominform in 1948, and the issuance, on October 8, 1953, of the Bipartite Note, the Anglo-American decision to dissolve the Free Territory of Trieste and divide its two Zones between Rome and Belgrade.
