Pavel A. Florenskij

Arrived to theology and priesthood after studies of mathematics and physics, passing through philosophy, art history, linguistics, epistemology, Pavel A. Florensky remains in the history of Russian thought as one of the most brilliant of the twentieth century : his works in various fields of knowledge have in fact left an indelible memory, despite its contribution to theological reflection is coming to light only in recent decades. In this sense, the neglect of the place of his martyrdom, after years of lager in Siberia, is a parable of oblivion in which his thought he had been forced. This was always accompanied by a vigorous testimony of a believer and father, as witnessed especially by the letters sent to family members. In fact, in his view the religious experience is the place of understanding of dogmas, whose radiant center is the figure of Wisdom, that permeates all things filling them of the presence of God. The approach to the truth is therefore the result of contemplation, away from the theological rationalism that pretends to enclose the same truth in the notions developed by humans. Contemplation is the method for the discovery of nature, whose identity is not seen by the "neutral" eye of the scientist, but by those who know how to get the trace of Wisdom.
